For the third consecutive year, Iktinos Hellas S.A. hosted us at its modern marble processing plant as well as at its underground marble quarry in Volakas — a model quarry that showcases what Greek engineers can achieve despite the challenging business environment. Every year, we are impressed by the progress of the underground operation in Volakas, a result of the company staff’s high level of expertise and their passion for marble. We hope this experience will serve as an inspiration for our students in their future careers as graduate Mineral Resources Engineers.
We would like to warmly thank the staff of Iktinos Hellas, and especially Mr. Charalambos Albanopoulos, Director of Quarries at the company, as well as Mr. Sofronios Theodoridis and Mr. Deucalion Papadopoulos, for organizing the visit and guiding us through the plant and the underground quarry.
